Continuing Legal Education Seminar: Protection from Abuse Orders

Presented by Claudia Dawson - SAFEHOME


 In an effort to encourage more practitioners to take on protection from abuse cases, this seminar will provide an in-depth review of key legal and practical considerations. Attendees will gain familiarity with the governing statutes—including recent legislative changes—along with recent case law and typical local procedures. The program will also cover the importance of lethality assessments and their effective use in practice. Finally, presenters will share practical tips for handling these matters and highlight common pitfalls to avoid.

Continuing Legal Education Seminar: Enforcing Handshake Agreements in Kansas

Presented by Matt Geiger


 This program will examine the enforceability of handshake agreements under Kansas law. The presentation will provide an overview of relevant claims, defenses, and case law, offering a clear framework for practitioners who may encounter such disputes. 

In addition, the seminar will focus on practical trial techniques for litigating these cases, complementing the observations and insights to be shared by Judge McEntee.
